Decorate the tree for less

Published by danahinders at 8:51 am under Uncategorized Edit This

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas! I put the tree up yesterday, which is always one of my favorite parts of the holiday. However, I have noticed that decorating Christmas trees can be expensive. If your tree is looking a little bare and you don’t have money to blow on ornaments, here are some ideas you can try to help fill it out:

  • Ribbon bows are inexpensive and kid-friendly decorations. Making them yourself is the best way to decorate the Christmas tree, but you can also find bows on sale if you’re willing to spend the time looking for deals.
  • Buy a bunch of pretty silk flowers from your local Wal-Mart and pull them apart. Stick the individual blooms into the bare spaces on your tree.
  • Candy canes make for fun and cheap ornaments! Shop at the nearest dollar store and you can find 12 candy canes for just a buck.
  • Add a personal touch to your tree by printing your favorite family photos onto cardstock circles. Punch holes in the top and add ribbon hangers for instant ornaments!
  • Beaded ornaments are easy to make and add a touch of sparkle to your tree. Simply string beads onto large headpins, then bend the wire at the top for form a loop. Add ribbon for hanging. (To make this project as frugal as possible, make your ornaments by recycling beads from broken bits of jewelry.)
